My name is Alex Martinez. Im Currently with the Marines, and  with 1/6 Alpha company. Im leaving Afghanistan, and I want to do this event to remember my fellow brothers that gave thier lives for all of us in Sangin Valley. I’m doing this event for Cpl Vitale who lost both of his legs and wont ever be the same again. I live to challenge myself and do the impossible, and I wouldnt be here today without the help of my brothers that pulled me through the past 7 months of hell.

I live to become the best, and this race seems like the right test for me. I know I can complete it, and I know it’ll take everything to do so. It comes down to the will power to finish when everything screams defeat. I want to do this for myself and for our fallen heros. There’s a saying that goes, “All Gave Some, Some Gave all” I will do this race to make sure those marines know they arent forgotten.
