PALMER — Erica Spelko of Palmer (left) posed with her mother Linda prior to embarking on the “Death Race”, an extreme race that took place on saturday, June 25 Pittfield, Vt. The race tests one’s mental and physical capacity as well as their stamina to such an extent that participants are instructed ti sign a fatality waiver.

Spelko said she survived the race, out stopped after 16.5 official hours, with the first finisher of the race chiming in at 43 hours.

“It was fun, but the weather was terrible!” Spelko said. “Most of what I did was in the dark in the woods and a river.”
